De que lado da estrada dirigiam os gondorianos? Do direito, não do esquerdo como seria de se esperar de um autor inglês. Neste trecho d'O Senhor dos Anéis, está claro que os veículos mais lentos andam à direita e os mais rápidos os ultrapassam à esquerda:
Mas a maior parte do tráfego saía pela estrada principal, e esta se virava para o sul [...] os carroções se moviam em três filas, uma mais veloz puxada por cavalos; outra mais lenta, grandes carroças com belos abrigos de muitas cores, puxadas por bois; e pela beira oeste da estrada iam muitos carros menores arrastados por homens esforçados. [O Senhor dos Anéis (HarperCollins Brasil, 2019), "Minas Tirith"]
On which side of the road did the Gondorians drive? On the right, not on the left as would be expected from an English author. In this passage from The Lord of the Rings, it is clear that slower vehicles drive on the right and the faster ones pass them on the left:
But most of the traffic went out along the chief highway, and that turned south [...] the wains were moving in three lines, one swifter drawn by horses; another slower, great waggons with fair housings of many colours, drawn by oxen; and along the west rim of the road many smaller carts hauled by trudging men.
